Inside is a large magnet, which helps create the magnetic field necessary for the functioning of the motor. Rotary is the part that rotates around. An important factor for the operation of the motor is a coil of wire that is wound inside the rotor. The commutator acts as a connection between the rotor and the power source that supplies electricity needed for it to operate.

The Electric Motor Explained

As electricity goes through the wire coil in the rotor, it produces a magnetic field. This magnetic field is what moves the rotor. The commutator reverses the flow of electricity as the rotor begins to rotate. This makes the rotor more like 100 poles that are switched on and off in succession, moving through the magnetic circle. This cyclical process can continue on and on, which keeps the motor spinning and working effectively without the need to stop.
